Required Consultant To Database - WRSC - UNDP in Kuwait


The database consultant will work under the direct supervision of the WRSC Project Manager and the WRSC Director. The incumbent will be responsible for the following:
The collection of available data on Women in Kuwait. The database collected will include information obtained from surveys and researches on the socio-economic and political status of Kuwaiti women extracted from national, regional and global surveys 
  • The extensive search of available bibliographies on Kuwaiti Women
  • Help to identify information gaps in studies and research related to women studies in Kuwait thereby informing statisticians, planners and researchers about the focus areas to address when conducting surveys and research papers
  • The search and advice on the best online libraries softwares and tools
  • The training of the WRSC staff, according to regional and international standards on library archiving, indexing, electronic database search tools and usage. Training sessions on utilization of the database will be conducted during the development and after the launch of the database.
Expected Outputs:
A large number of research documents on Kuwaiti women collected
A bibliography of existing books on Kuwaiti women created
A list of media documents (articles, interviews etc.) on Kuwaiti women created.

Required Skills and Experience
An advanced degree in Library Management
At least 10 years of work on Library management and data collection
Proficiency in library policies, procedures and library programming standards    as well as knowledge in research and information gathering systems and methods
Experience working in GCC countries is favourable. Knowledge of UNDP programme policies and procedures is an added advantage
Experience in working with government institutions in Kuwait is greatly desired.
