Dean of the College of Business Administration - GUST

Introduction
Founded in 2002, the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) is the first private university in the State of Kuwait. It has a student population of 3,400. The University is now seeking a visionary leader for the College of Business Administration building on the excellent work done by the retiring dean. The college is pursuing AACSB accreditation and plans are in place to achieve other international professional accreditations. The 48 college faculty members publish regularly in quality international journals. Strong administrative staff members understand and support the college mission and its development. The college has a flagship MBA program attracting students from influential companies in Kuwait and beyond.
The University is going through a transformational phase and the new Dean will play a major role in taking the University and College to new levels. The University is very international with faculty members from 31 countries. The University is accredited by the Private Universities Council of the Ministry of Higher Education in Kuwait and is affiliated with the University of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL), Florida International University (FIU) and University of Massachusetts at Lowell (UMass). The University moved to a state of the art campus in 2008. A new building will be added soon to house the new College of Engineering and Architecture. The Board of Trustees members are fully committed and supportive of the University development plans to make GUST a regional flagship institution.
Position Description:
The Dean is the College's chief administrative and academic officer and reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Dean should provide visionary and strategic leadership for the educational and professional missions of the college. The Dean is responsible for the College’s educational programs and promoting the college with external constituents.
Duties and responsibilities
• Respond to the educational needs of Kuwait and the region.
• Promote and enhance business relations with companies in Kuwait.
• Provide strategic directions of the college and promote it in his/her own circles and explore opportunities to develop new programs and research areas
• Oversee faculty and staff, curriculum planning, development and evaluation, budget management, advisory boards, community outreach, and external relations
• Provide an excellent learning environment for our students adopting modern and technology based approaches whenever applicable.
• Lead planning for student recruitment and retention in the College and participate in marketing and promotion planning and activities
• Collaborate with Student Affairs in analyzing and resolving student academic and administrative problems and conflicts, in an effective manner
• Oversee quality, standards and accreditation in the college and its departments.
