Required Political Officer / Translator - British Embassy in Kuwait

To undertake preliminary research and analysis of a range of external, thematic and economic issues supported by the joint heads of the political and economic team – reporting key information to the Ambassador, colleagues within the Embassy and the wider FCO.  To build and maintain relationships with key contacts. To assist in preparing for inward visits of UK government officials, public figures and Ministers.

To translate official documents from English to Arabic and Arabic to English on behalf of the Ambassador and political team.

Skills and Experience Required
•    Translation qualification (from English to Arabic) essential
•    Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic
•    Good networking and interpersonal skills
•    Strong analytical and report writing skills
•    Organisational and time management skills, with very good attention to detail
•    Customer focus and communication skills
•    Ability to work with contacts and colleagues at all levels
•    Personal drive and the ability to be a self-starter as well as a team player
•    Flexible, resilient under pressure and decisive, with a proven track record of delivering results to a high standard within tight deadlines
•    Willingness to work additional hours as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Undergraduate degree
•    Translation qualification (English to Arabic)
