The CSSD Helper performs daily collection, cleaning, washing, assembly and packing of medical instruments. Receives, maintains and distributes autoclaved items for all Hospital clinical areas and clinic departments.
Education : High School or equivalent degree.
Experience : 1 year experience in Hospital setting. Experience in CSSD is an advantage.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains established departmental policies & procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety environment and infection control standards.
Operates and maintains machines like washer disinfectors, ultrasonic machines etc. as per manufacturer guideline and Hospital standards.
Receives all instruments, linens, and other items from all clinical areas for decontamination and sterilization.
Decontaminates instruments, supplies and equipment according to established policies & procedures.
Examines instruments for defects, and reports all defects and concerns related to assigned duties to the CSSD technician and/or Head Nurse.
Transports and distributes sterile instruments, linens and packs to all units according to established policy.
Selects proper instruments and wrapping trays following established procedures.
Maintains log of items distributed to and received/collected from various departments.
Maintains the cleanliness of work areas as required.
Reports on adverse occurrences, if any, as per the Hospital policy.
Participates in educational programs and in-service lectures/workshops.
Attends unit meetings and as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
