POSITION SUMMARY:
1. Working directly under the Finance Manager. The Account Supervisor is responsible for the preparation of and accuracy of all financial information necessary for the on-going operations of the facility, enforcing internal controls and other procedures instituted by the system for the purpose of safeguarding the assets of the Hospital.
2. Responsible for managing the accounting department, its functions and staff.
3. Provide assistance to the Finance Manager when required to research and develop information necessary for financial feasibility studies and pro-formas for proposed new programs, changes in operations and major expenditures for the Hospital.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Maintain the Hospital’s financial statements and accounting records according to the U.S. generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP).
2. Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of all accounting data of the Hospital.
3. Responsible for the accounts payable and payroll functions for the Hospital and clinics. This includes producing accurate and timely payrolls and accurate and timely payments to vendors
4. Provide assistance to the Finance Manager in conducting operational reviews to determine that proper internal controls are in place for the safekeeping of all Hospital assets.
5. Assisting Auditors with interim and year-end audit.
6. Responsible for working with the Finance Manager and departments to develop the Hospitals annual operating and capital budgets.
7. Provide assistance to the Finance Manager to prepare financial analysis, both monthly and as requested, of the operations of the hospital, providing highlights with explanations of the major positive and negative variances to the budget.
8. Provide assistance to the Finance Manager to develop financial feasibility studies and pro-formas for the purpose of reviewing proposed new programs, changes in operations or major capital purchases.
9. Responsible for providing, either directly or indirectly on-going training and development for all subordinate staff.
10. Responsible to successfully communicate with management, physicians, government agencies as well as employees, vendors, patients and their families in the conduct of the Accounting Supervisor’s duties.
11. Enhances professional growth & development through participation in educational programs current literature in-service meetings and workshops.
12. Provide support to the Financial Manager as required.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited college or university with a 4 year degree in Accounting.
Experience:
Total experience of 5 years working in finance or accounting, including 2 years as a Supervisor of Accounting.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
There will be a lot of pressure to meet the various deadlines for the publication of financial statements and other information. Demands on this position will come from several areas, including Hospital management, investment Partner groups, local government agencies, vendors, patients and their families and hospital employees. Requires sitting for long periods of time. Some bending, stretching and lifting objects typically not more than five pounds required. Use of calculator and computer keyboard.
