The Biomedical Technician –
P&F performs preventive maintenance and repair of the biomedical
equipment of the Hospital. Performs variety of routine tasks associated
with the installation, service and calibration of a diverse range of
biomedical instrumentation.
Education : Diploma in Biomedical Engineering or Maintenance from a recognized Technical college or University.
Experience : 2 years' experience in biomedical service and repair, preferably in a Multi-Specialty Hospital
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs all routine and emergency repair, maintenance and calibrations of equipment as required.
Provides technical assistance and instruction in the operation and maintenance of equipment
Supports the development of Maintenance plans & procedures that oversees hazard alerts and recalls on medical equipment
Monitors contract compliance and performance of all contracted biomedical maintenance services and all such work carried out under warranties.
Ensures maintenance of acceptable standards of calibration, functionality, appearance and cleanliness of the environment including all equipment, fixtures and fittings.
Operates within the scope of established Quality systems like ISO 9001:2000, JCIA, ACI and other International accreditation standards as applicable.
Maintains detailed records on the Maintenance and Repair history of all biomedical and electronics equipment in use.
Establishes and maintains a library of service manuals and information brochures on all biomedical and electronic equipment
Monitors and evaluates the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment
Assists in the diagnoses of equipment malfunctions and investigates safety related incidents
Maintains adequate and appropriate inventory of spare parts and supplies needed for the service and maintenance of equipment
Participates in negotiations for contract maintenance services as appropriate
Provide recommendations regarding purchase of biomedical instrumentation or related accessories
Liaises with medical and other departments, as appropriate, to collaborate in biomedical equipment maintenance and performance improvement activities
Updates Department policies & procedures related to biomedical equipment
Pursues ongoing continuing education program, attends meetings and conducts in service education programs as deemed appropriate
Participates in weekly departmental meetings
Actively participates in the organization’s activities designed to attain accreditation
Enhances professional growth of self through participation in training programs, current literature and in service meetings
Performs all other additional assignments as requested by the department Manager or Engineer.
