Required Sociologist Youth Resiliency Project - UNDP

Required Skills and Experience
    Advance degree in sociology or other relevant fields
    Advance specialization and experience in youth violence and juvenile behavior
    At least 10 years’ experience conducting assessments, in Programme and Project Planning and Design, Monitoring and Evaluation;
    Previous work experience with UNDP is an added advantage.

The Sociologist will:
    Assess the degree, number, and level of violent incidences happening within the local high schools in Kuwait 3 times during the duration of the 2 year project.
    Conduct a desk review of relevant documents will be provided by UNDP and other relevant stakeholders.

The UNDP Country Office will provide the Consultant with the necessary briefings.

Competencies
    Ability to advocate and provide policy advice.
    Awareness of the need for development and operational effectiveness.
    In depth knowledge and strong track record of using internationally oriented  programs and instruments.
    Good understanding of the rules governing program management and implementation modalities as set by the beneficiary. This attribute is a plus.
    Strong communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
    Understanding of local and international business and trade laws and agreements.
    Substantive experience working with Government partners on the implementation of complex and socially sensitive programs.
    Adequate knowledge and experience working with communities.
    Fluency in spoken and written English and Arabic.
