Director - CCE - American University of Kuwait

Provides strategic leadership to the Center for Continuing Education (CCE) to ensure it fulfills its community, corporate and institutional mandates and appropriately contributes to the University's achievement of goals and fulfillment of mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Plans, organizes and administers the educational offerings of the division.
    Provides leadership in all aspects of the University mission, including the development of new programs, courses and instructional activities. Provides direction regarding strategic planning, mission, vision, values, and market niche for Continuing Education.
    Promotes continuing education activities internally and externally. Represents the activities of continuing education on internal and external committees and organizations.
    Develops and recommends an operating budget for the division and is responsible for the management of the adopted budget for the current fiscal year. Utilizes financial information to plan, modify or cancel courses or programs. Pursues appropriate grant opportunities for programs and facilities within the department.
    Coordinates the preparation, analysis, and distribution of the annual report of each program within the division. Analyzes and evaluates financial performance, budget management, program quality, new program development, and customer service performance for the division.
    Supervises CCE staff and instructors and is responsible for all educational programs, services and facilities within the department.
    Provides guidance and feedback to continuing education instructors and instructional designers to align efforts to meet the needs of the client and university.
    Develops/creates courses and programs (certificate, contract training and open enrollment) to meet the needs of business, industry and the community.
    Supervises the development of class schedules and oversees appropriate room assignments, including the use of community sites. Assures that all classes are met as scheduled, or that suitable arrangements for substitute teachers are made.
    Work on local and international departmental accreditation as applicable.
    Uses business intelligence tools and services to maximize the return on investment for the university's involvement in continuing education activities.
    Develops strategic partnerships across and outside the organization in support of the vision, mission, and goals of the CCE.
    Develops policies and procedures for CCE Administration and Office, Instructors, Student Rights, Responsibilities and Services (including access to AUK portal) Academic, including Grading and Code of Academic Honesty Student Code of Conduct Intellectual property rights and copyright
    Develops, implements and maintains quality assurance and risk management processes for programs and services
    Liaises with senior corporate and government officials to ensure that positive relations are maintained and opportunities for mutual benefit are explored

Qualification:    
    Master's degree required preferably in education administration or management; Ph.D. degree preferred.
    English required, Arabic preferred

Experience
    5 - 7 years of experience managing highly successful higher education, continuing education, and/or industry programs and personnel
    Successful experience managing marketing and business development, employee performance, and finances
    Successful and current experience in the creation and advocacy of new approaches to program delivery, including technologically-mediated learning and international programs
    Successful experience developing sound policies, procedures and systems

Demonstrated abilities to:
    Strategically plan, develop policies, procedures and systems, organize resources and successfully manage performance
    Successfully build and lead teams that are dynamic, entrepreneurial, diverse and successful
    Adapt to local/regional cultures and customs, integrate them into work processes, and establish and maintain positive relations with diverse communities, cultures and stakeholders
    Establish and maintain an organizational culture that values and nurtures
    Quality assurance, continuous improvement, and risk management and learner-centered education and customer satisfaction
    Manage multiple tasks, determine priorities, delegate effectively, and meet deadlines.
    Effectively use Microsoft Office and other technologies as a management tool
    Strong administrative, planning, and organizational skills, strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
    Strong skills in all aspects of communication, including complete fluency in English, Strong skills in proposal writing, evaluation and presentation
    Sound financial management skills including costing and pricing
