The Senior Systems Engineer will provide comprehensive maintenance,
administration, monitoring and support of all Microsoft based systems
especially Active Directory, Messaging
and Infrastructure Services based systems. This includes the hardware
platforms, operating systems, environment configuration, infrastructure
and middleware tools, data bases, security and access.
Accountabilities
• Ensure proper maintenance, configuration and quality of systems including cluster configuration, messaging flows and controls, directory services and group policies. • Install and maintain support and diagnostic software tools for key systems including Messaging, Active Directory & Infrastructure Services and Clustering. • Proficiency and experience in a combination of: Exchange 2007 - Messaging; Business Continuity & Availability; Messaging Consolidation; Secure Messaging; Messaging Archiving; Messaging Shared Services; Mobile Messaging; Office Communications Server; ADSI and Exchange scripting; Windows Active Directory. • Good understanding of other messaging related technologies like anti-virus, anti-spam, archiving, web mail and security policy. • Good knowledge about Storage Networking (SAN), NAS. • Monitor and provide pro-active maintenance of overall system performance by way of capacity and availability management, including management reports with monthly and quarterly performance statistics. • Understand and follow the Incident and Change Management Processes implemented. • Keep your skills up to date and abreast of new products and technologies in the areas of Windows systems, especially Messaging & Collaboration, Infrastructure & Directory Services, Proxy and Security systems. • Development of technical standards and solutions. Develop and maintain system documentation. • Identify all system-related files to ensure full backup and recovery capabilities according to required compliance requirements.
Experience Required
• A university degree coupled with solid technology experience. • Candidates for this role should have 3+ years' of relevant experience across multiple technical disciplines, in design, implementation and support streams of the technology. • Microsoft Certified (Current 2003). • Experience with implementing or supporting large-scale IT operations of at least 150 • Broad knowledge of relevant technologies and how they can be applied practically to business problems. • Familiarity with Microsoft’s core products and ISV Best-of-Breed solutions and how can be leveraged into business solutions. • Design & Implementation experience with Active Directory and Exchange. • Support experience with BlueCoat and Websense products, especially proxy and internet filtering. • Self motivated, eager to learn and progress career in IT. • Ability to creatively apply technology and existing solutions to meet business requirements. • Team player must be able to work with people within and outside of the IT department. • Customer service focused. • Strong organizational and analytical and skills. • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and presentation.
